Web Site Policy

These policies apply to the AMTA National and all chapter Web sites.

Legal Disclaimers, Copyright Notices and Permissions

  1. AMTA shall post a general legal disclaimer, a privacy policy, limited liability statements, and copyright notices for review by all Web site viewers;

  2. Viewers will be notified that when they move from the Homepage to anywhere on the Web site, that they are automatically accepting the conditions and limitations presented;

  3. All legal disclaimers, privacy policies, liability statements, on-line license and copyright notices used shall be approved for use on the Web site by AMTA legal counsel;

  4. AMTA shall post a permission form for those requesting authorization to use copyrighted AMTA materials. This form shall be prominently displayed on the Web site with links to the form in all areas displaying publications;

  5. For non-AMTA materials placed on the Web site, AMTA will obtain written permission from the owner of the materials before placing them on the Web site; and

  6. When non-AMTA materials are posted, AMTA will identify them as such and prominently display the following text:

"The following materials are protected by copyright by the owners of the materials. They are provided here for your information. If you wish to reproduce these materials or use them in any other way, you must request permission for those uses from the owner of the original materials."

Sales Criteria for Web Site Advertising:

  1. AMTA will offer advertisers a variety of advertising options on the Web site;

  2. Section advertisers will be given first selection of currently available sections;

  3. Banner ads will always link to an advertiser’s Web site;

  4. The following areas will not be available to advertisers, with the exception of index pages that they may be linked from:

a. Homepage

b. Chapter Profile Pages

c. School Profile Pages

d. Member Profile Pages

e. Chapter Listings

f. Governance Section

g. Hands On Newsletter

h. Annual Report

i. Credentials/Certification Information

j. Standards/Code of Ethics Pages

k. About AMTA Section

l. Join AMTA Section

m. Contact AMTA Form

n. Government Relations Pages

  1. All other areas will be available to massage and non-massage related products and/or services with the following exception:

  1. Only non-massage related products (e.g.: consumer goods such as athletic shoes, spring water, health foods, food supplements, vitamins, etc.) will be advertised in the following areas so as not to conflict with members’ businesses:

E-Commerce Security

  1. AMTA shall provide members and other viewers a secure credit card authorization program through AMTA’s merchant bank in order to provide e-commerce transactions; and

  2. All AMTA e-commerce transactions will be hosted on a secure server, taking whatever means are necessary to comply with industry standards.

Links to and from other sites

  1. AMTA may offer reciprocal links to chapters, members, affiliated organizations, COMTA accredited institutions and specific healthcare and alternative healthcare sites that are not commercial in nature;

  2. AMTA chapters, members and COMTA accredited schools who have a Web site shall be allowed to list a link to their individual Web sites on the AMTA Web site;

  3. AMTA will not allow the "AMTA Logo" to be used as a link at anytime and on any site to link to www.amtamassage.org;

  4. Both member and non-member advertisers and participants in AMTA media opportunities will be allowed to offer their links on the AMTA Web site in conjunction with advertising they are purchasing;

  5. AMTA shall have the right to refuse a link to the AMTA Web site by organizations or individuals deemed not to be in line with the AMTA mission and Code of Ethics and AMTA Advertising Policies; and

  6. Chapter Web sites shall link to the National AMTA Web site and the on-line National Locator Service in place of publishing their own directories of members.

Web Affinity Programs

  1. Affinity programs are defined as those types of programs that provide a member and/or non-member or consumer Web site viewer a reduced price or special consideration, and at the same time may bring non-dues revenue to AMTA in the form of commissions or fees and provide added value to the AMTA Web site;

  2. AMTA may from time-to-time offer affinity programs to members as long as they are a benefit to members;

  3. Some of these affinity programs may also be offered to consumers and non-members as long as they generate non-dues revenue and add value to the AMTA Web site;

  4. AMTA may deny or cancel an affinity program if it conflicts with current AMTA Advertising Policies, Standards or Code of Ethics;

  5. All affinity programs that are national in scope will be administered by the AMTA National Office on the official AMTA Web site;

  6. Chapter affinity programs will be limited to AMTA members of the chapter only, and have the approval of the Chapter Board of Directors;

  7. Affinity programs presented on the AMTA Web site will be analyzed by staff, reviewed and approved by AMTA national committee(s) before they are brought to the National Board of Directors for approval before any contract is entered into. The primary committees to review these programs will be Membership and Communications; and

  8. AMTA will only enter into affinity programs that have an escape clause, should the program not work out or deplete its value as a member benefit.

National Locator Service

There shall be only one Locator Service for the AMTA and it shall be administered by the National Office and it shall be called AMTA’s Find a Massage Therapist National Locator Service effective September 1, 2000.
