American Massage Therapy Association Elects National Board

Evanston, IL – The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) announces the results of its 2007 national election, conducted via mail among its Professional members.  Judy Stahl Boyer of Arizona was elected President-Elect and will serve in that position from March 1, 2008 until March 1, 2009 when she will assume the position of National President.  William J. Greenberg of Connecticut was re-elected as a Vice President and Cynthia Ribeiro of California was elected to fill the other open Vice President position.  Both will serve two-year terms beginning March 1, 2008.

Three people were elected as Members-at-large on the AMTA National Board of Directors. All will serve two-year terms beginning this March:

Elected – William “Ron” McKnight (CT), Jeff Smoot (OK)

Re-elected - Kathie Lea (LA)

Robert Andersen (WA), Dan R. Barrow (NM), Michael Blackmore (OR), Maureen P. Hoock (MO), Scott Raymond (CT) and Michael Reynolds (IN) were elected to the 2008 Commission on Candidacy and will coordinate the candidate search for the 2008 election.

A total of 4,499 valid ballots were received for the officer and national board election – 9% of Professional members- a percentage consistent with the percentage of members who vote in other professional association elections.  Photos of those elected to the National Board of Directors will be available on the AMTA Web site.
