Evanston, IL (December 22, 2004) – The American Massage Therapy Association
(AMTA) announces the results of its 2004 national election, conducted via
mail among its Professional members. Jeanne Girard of Colorado was elected
President-Elect and will serve in that position from March 1, 2005 until
March 1, 2006 when she will assume the position of national president.
Claude Gagnon of Wisconsin ran unopposed for the one open Vice President
position and will serve a two-year term beginning March 1, 2005.
Three people were re-elected as Members-at-large on the AMTA National Board
of Directors and one was elected to fill an expiring term. All will serve
two-year terms beginning this March:
Elected - Judy Boyer (AZ)
Re-elected - Terry Hirth-Caldwell (MI), William Greenberg (CT) and Charna
Rosenholtz (CO)
Lisa A. Schad (NJ), Kathleen Crewdson (CT), Todd Simmons (MI) and William
[Lou] Castleman (TX) were elected to the 2005 Commission on Candidacy and
will coordinate the candidate search for the 2005 election.
A total of 3,852 valid ballots were received for the officer and national
board election – 12.4% of Professional members- a percentage slightly higher
than the percentage of members who vote in other professional association
elections. Photos of those elected to the National Board of Directors are

The American Massage Therapy Association is a non-profit, professional
association with more than 51,000 members throughout the U.S. and in some 27
other countries. The association is directed by volunteer leadership chosen
through its national election and fosters ongoing, direct member-involvement
through its 52 chapters.
