The
American Massage Therapy Association is delighted to announce that it has
been granted a Registered Service Mark by the U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office for the term National Massage Therapy Awareness Week.
This allows AMTA to protect the name of its program from use by those not
authorized to use it.
AMTA
began active celebration of National Massage Therapy Awareness Week in 1997
to promote public awareness of the massage therapy profession and the
benefits of massage therapy. Each year AMTA members and Chapters
hold public demonstration massages, public education programs and other
activities to promote better public awareness of massage therapy. AMTA
also collaborates with massage associations in Canada
to hold massage awareness activities during the same week.
AMTA
members and Chapters are fully authorized to use the name National Massage
Therapy Awareness Week. For more information about
National Massage Therapy Awareness Week October 19-25, 2003, contact Ron
Precht at the AMTA National Office (847-864-0123).
