Evanston, IL – The American Massage Therapy Association
(AMTA) will celebrate its 60th anniversary and hold its Annual Convention
at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, October 22-26, 2003. The
Convention will include training workshops for massage therapists,
information about research on the efficacy of massage and association
business meetings. More than 900 massage therapists are expected to attend.
Scheduled
keynote speaker is Bernie Siegel, MD, (physician, author and lecturer) who
has dedicated himself to patient empowerment and the importance of love and
spiritual matters to health and healing .

The American Massage Therapy Association is the oldest and largest
association representing massage therapy. With 46,000 members, it has a Code
of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and an active law and legislation program.
October 19-25 also is National Massage Therapy Awareness Week, sponsored
each year by AMTA, to educate the public on the benefits of massage. The
theme for National Massage Therapy Awareness Week 2003 is “Relieve Pain with
Massage.”
