NHI's course work is taught over a 10-month period (12 months for our evening and weekend programs), and includes 720 hours and more than 125 topics. Course work includes: 1) massage theory and practice; 2) anatomy, physiology, kineseology, and pathology; 3) practice management; 4) massage therapy clinic; and 5) externship/community service.

Clinic, internship and community outreach components of program The Clinic and Externship programs are extremely valuable components of the student experience at NHI. The clinic provides "hands on" experience giving massage to actual clients. You will also learn the various aspects of running a clinic from scheduling apointments, to greeting clients and handling payments. The externship program gives you valuable on-site experience and prepares you to find and maintain a career in the field of massage therapy. At the same time, you'll contribute to the greater health and well-being of your community. NHI's Clinic and Externship program provides you with the on the job experience that today's employers require.

Post Graduate Training: NHI has long been providing first rate Continuing Education programs for our graduates. Designed for both career enhancement and personal growth, many timely topics are also open to NHI graduates and other health professionals. Topic selection and frequency of presentation is determined by our school Director based on graduate requests. We have presented infant massage, seated massage, aromatherapy, yoga for massage therapists, preparing for the National Certification Exam, and many other cutting edge specialized bodywork classes.

Location of facility(ies): National Holistic Institute is located on the corner of Hollis and 59th Streets in Emeryville, California. You can drive here in 15 minutes from San Francisco, or 10 minutes from downtown Berkeley or Oakland.
Description of facility(ies): Our facility is approximately 21,000 square feet of beautiful, warm, open spaces. There are seven large classrooms, a large, skylighted student lounge, and a kitchen area. A student library provides a quiet place to study, as well as refererence materials on all aspects of massage and holistic health.

Financial Aid: In addition to private financing, National Holistic Institute provides Title IV Federal Financial Aid to students who qualify. The Federal Financial Aid programs in which we participate include Federal Pell Grants, Federal Student Loans, Federal Parents Loans, and Federal Work Study.
