PRIVATE PRACTICE
JD Elder’s work involves a combination of Micro-Holding Technique (a specialized form of medical massage which JD developed) along with Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)and Therapeutic Yoga to reduce stress, promote healing and improve wellbeing and quality of life.
HOSPITAL, HOSPICE and OUTPATIENT
In 1996 JD began working as a part of an interdisciplinary palliative care clinical team. He developed and directs the Massage Therapy Program and the Complementary Therapies Program at the Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute, Mount Sinai Medical Center.
With a focus on symptom relief and comfort JD's work involves expertly offering mindfulness-based medical massage/Micro-Holding Technique (MHT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and other mind/body considerations to enhance patients comfort, wellbeing and quality of life.
Since 2006, JD is co-director of an annual massage therapist Continuing education training, "Hospital-Based Massage Therapy for Seriously Ill Patients" offered at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.

Mr. Elder has been a student and teacher of Eastern and Western methods of meditation and contemplative science since 1972.
He works in the inpatient, outpatient and hospice setting. And has a small private practice in NYC
