Erik Dalton, PhD, Leaves an Indelible Mark on the Massage Profession

AMTA is deeply saddened by the loss of Erik Dalton, PhD, whose lifelong work left an indelible mark on the massage therapy profession. Erik, who passed away on Saturday, January 11, at his home in Costa Rica, was the founder of the Freedom from Pain Institute and the creator of Dalton Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques.

We are profoundly grateful for Erik’s contributions to AMTA, including the development of the successful Receptor Techniques for Painful Necks online course, launched in 2011. Erik was a dynamic presence at many AMTA conventions and chapter events, where he led continuing education sessions. He also contributed to the Massage Therapy Journal on topics like spindle-stim techniques and myofascial massage therapy over the years.

Erik’s dedication to advancing the massage therapy profession will be his legacy, and here at AMTA we are thankful for the impactful work we were able to do together.

Our thoughts are with Erik's family, friends, colleagues and students.
