Consumer Views of Massage and Healthcare
Every year, AMTA conducts an in-depth survey to explore the experiences and perspectives of massage therapy consumers. Over the last month, we've been sharing insights from this year’s findings, offering you a closer look at how consumers perceive and use massage therapy. This week, we’ll uncover how individuals view massage therapy and health care.
Massage Therapy: An Essential Form of Health Care
When consumers experience the health benefits of massage, they are more likely to view it as a form of health care. This perspective encourages individuals to integrate massage therapy into their regular wellness routines, much like they would exercise or a balanced diet.
As a result, many people have begun to see massage therapy as an essential tool for maintaining overall health and preventing future health issues. Massage therapy can serve as a proactive approach to managing stress, reducing chronic pain, and improving quality of life, making it a valuable part of health and well-being.
Massage Therapy Can Improve Health and Well-Being
Massage therapy helps to enhance circulation which promotes the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscles and tissues, aiding in faster healing and recovery. Consistent massage sessions can also reduce stress levels and improve mental clarity by encouraging relaxation and a sense of calm.
Massage therapy has been shown to improve symptoms for a variety of health conditions, including pain relief, soreness, stiffness or spasms, injury recovery and prevention, migraines, pregnancy or prenatal, and general well-being.
This latest research continues to highlight that consumers recognize massage therapy as an effective form of healthcare, and not just pampering. AMTA is dedicated to advocating for research initiatives that continue to support massage therapy as an important part of an integrative approach to health and wellness.
