Massage Therapy Journal Receives Honorable Mention at 2024 MarCom Awards
AMTA is excited to share that Massage Therapy Journal’s (MTJ) Fall issue received an Honorable Mention at the 2024 MarCom Awards. The MarCom Awards “honor excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work and generosity of industry professionals.” This recognition highlights MTJ’s commitment to advancing research within the profession and connecting massage therapists with valuable resources to enhance their practice and better serve their clients.
Established in 2004, the MarCom Awards have grown into one of the world’s largest and most-respected creative competitions, receiving approximately 7,000 print and digital submissions from across the globe, annually. Earning an Honorable Mention in such a prestigious competition underscores the impact and quality of MTJ’s content.
MTJ’s Fall 2024 issue, “Committing to Compassionate Inclusion,” features a number of articles centered on creating a welcoming space for all clients who are seeking massage. These articles address the needs of diverse populations, including: individuals with PTSD or trauma, neurodivergent clients, and nonbinary or transgender individuals. By implementing thoughtful, inclusive practices, massage therapists can ensure every client feels safe, seen, and supported.
Michelle Vallet, Senior Publications Manager of MTJ, shared that, “AMTA is proud to receive recognition for MTJ. Our membership is vibrant and diverse, as are the clients they serve. We are grateful to be trusted with providing AMTA members timely information that reflects both the beauty of the profession and the larger client community.”
This issue also highlighted one of AMTA’s CE courses, “Creating an Inclusive Space for Clients with Disabilities and Impairments,” which discusses various barriers that an individual might face when trying to access massage. The course describes the importance of universal design, reasonable accommodations, respectful language, and modifications as ways to increase accessibility and comfortability in massage therapy settings.
This Honorable Mention from the 2024 MarCom Awards underscores the essential role of inclusivity and accessibility in both the human experience and massage therapy practice; it reinforces our commitment to celebrating diversity and upholding dignity within the profession and beyond.
