Massage Insurance for Professionals & Graduates

Find affordable massage liability insurance for massage therapy professionals and recent graduates.

Massage Therapy Insurance Options

While you may think that having your license is all you need to practice massage, it is also important to make sure you are covered with massage insurance in the case of an unexpected liability, such as a client becoming injured, or damage to property other than your own as a result of something you may or may not have done.

An AMTA Professional Membership and AMTA Graduate Membership includes affordable broad liability insurance to make sure that massage therapists are protected in case of a loss.

With an AMTA membership, you're covered for up to $2 million per occurrence/$6 million aggregate for professional liability, general liability, products and personal injury. Learn more about coverage for students.

We want to make it easy for you to be covered.

Why Do I Need Massage Liability Insurance?

Even the best massage therapists make mistakes or are perceived by a client as having caused injury through their professional services. Affordable massage liability insurance through your AMTA membership covers you for amounts that you become legally obligated to pay as a result of a professional liability claim arising out of a covered medical incident.

If you work for someone else, not only do many employers require you to have liability insurance before they allow you to work, it’s always good to be prepared for the worst case scenario by being covered.

What Are the Benefits of Having Professional Massage Liability Insurance?

Having professional liability insurance coverage as part of your AMTA membership gives you the peace of mind that you will be protected in your day-to-day massage practice.

With coverage through AMTA, your interests are protected if you are named in a lawsuit, and your coverage will travel with you as long as you are practicing within the scope of your license or certification, and in accordance with the modalities not specifically excluded.

Insurance for Recent Massage School Graduates

The Graduate membership level is designed specifically for those new to the profession. Members at this level enjoy the same general liability insurance for massage therapists as Professional AMTA Members.

Graduate members qualify for the insurance coverage if they have:

  1. Graduated from their initial massage therapy training program of 500 or more in-class hours;
  2. And met applicable state or local licensing requirements.*

*Please note that for any state or locale that requires licensure, it’s imperative that Graduate Members do not practice until their license has been obtained. Where licensure is required, successful graduation from a massage therapy training program may not be sufficient for professional liability coverage to apply.
